Acer launches Chromebook with 14-hours battery backup

Acer has expanded its line of Chromebooks with the launch of an all-metal Chromebook 14. The tipping point for this laptop is its claim to offer battery life of up to 14 hours. the The laptop has been priced at $299.99, which roughly equals to Rs 20,000.

The Chromebook 14 is powered by a dual-core Intel Celeron processor clocked at 1.6GHz. The laptop will be available in two variants. The 14-inch IPS FullHD display will come with 4GB RAM and 32GB internal storage, while the other variant will offer resolution of 1366 X 768 pixels, and will be coupled with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage.

The company claims that the higher variant will be able to last up to 12 hours, while the 2GB variant will offer 14 hours of battery backup. The Chromebooks are mostly directed at heavy internet users, and not meant for those who seek a powerful PC. A bigger RAM and battery should make these functions smoother.

The company hasn’t specified any price for the lower variant yet. Also the launch dates for the Indian market are not yet known. Acer had launched its last Chrome OS-based laptop Chromebook C720 in India in December 2014.
